Phone Consultation or In-Person Consultation: Which Is Right for Your Brows
By Boston Perfect Eyebrows LLC | October 6, 2026
Bottom line: I use a phone consultation for quick pre-screens, scheduling, follow-ups, and simple shape or color questions when you can send clear photos. I recommend an in-person consultation for first-time services, microblading, corrective work, or anytime I need live mapping and a close look at your skin and natural brows for accuracy.
In Allston, I talk to a lot of students and commuters who search “brows near me” or “eyebrows near me” and just want a clear answer before they take a trip across town. A phone consult is a simple way to get your questions answered, narrow down the right service, and avoid guessing. But there are times I’ll tell you, kindly and directly, that we need to meet in person to do it right.
Phone consult vs in-person brow consult: what I’m actually doing in each
A phone consultation is a focused conversation. I’ll ask what you like (soft, bold, natural, feathered), what you don’t like (too thin, too arched, too dark), and what you’ve tried before. If you send photos, I can often spot patterns right away, like over-tweezing gaps, uneven growth, or a shape that’s fighting your natural brow line.
An in-person consultation is different because I’m working with what I can see up close. This is where brow mapping matters, especially for microblading. I’m looking at your natural brow density, where your hairs grow in, and how your skin behaves. That “up close” view is what helps me talk honestly about what’s realistic and what will look right on your face.
Phone consultation
30 minutes | photo-based guidance
Best for narrowing down services, answering questions fast, and planning your next visit without an extra trip.
In-person consultation
Best for microblading and corrections
Best for face-to-face shape decisions, brow mapping, reviewing examples together, and assessing brows and skin in real time.
The trade-offs that actually matter for eyebrows: speed, accuracy, and peace of mind
I’ll be fair about it. Phone consults win on speed and convenience. In-person consults win on accuracy when details matter. If you live in Allston Village near Packard's Corner or you’re coming in from Cambridge, Brookline, Newton, Watertown, or Somerville, that difference matters. A quick call can save you a winter trip just to ask two questions.
Where a phone consultation shines
A lot of people reach out because they’re worried their brows are too sparse, too light, or uneven after years of tweezing. On the phone, I can help you pick the right next step and set expectations before you book time in the chair. People regularly tell me I listen closely and pay attention to detail, and that matters even before the appointment starts.
If you’re aiming for a natural result, a phone consult is also a great way to talk through style choices. Some clients come in wanting a feathered look and later tell me people don’t even realize their brows are tattooed. That kind of “natural but better” result starts with a clear conversation.
Photo prep makes or breaks a phone consultation. If your photos are clear, I can give clearer recommendations and a more accurate time estimate.
Where in-person wins, especially for microblading
If this is your first time considering microblading, or you’re correcting old work, I prefer an in-person consultation. That’s when I can map your brows, review before-and-after examples with you, and check your natural brows and skin type closely. It’s also the right time for a patch test if I feel you need one.
“Rejina always does a flawless job on my eyebrows! She has incredible attention to detail and takes her time to make sure they’re perfect every single time. She really listens to what you want and makes it happen...”

A quick decision guide: which brow consultation should you book?
Book a phone consultation if:
- You want to talk through shape goals, density issues, or style ideas before committing.
- You’re short on time and want to avoid an extra trip, which is common around Allston’s transit-friendly lifestyle.
- You can send clear photos so I can see your natural brow starting point.
Choose an in-person consultation if:
- It’s your first time with microblading and you want live mapping and a detailed suitability check.
- You’re doing corrective work or you’re unsure what’s realistic on your skin and natural brow pattern.
- You want to review before-and-after examples together and make shape decisions face-to-face.
If you’re torn, I often start with a phone pre-screen, then bring you in for a shorter in-person check when we need final mapping.
How to send photos that make an online brow consult worth your time
If we’re doing a phone consultation, photos are the difference between general advice and specific guidance. Here’s what I recommend so I can actually see your eyebrows.
Photo checklist (simple, but specific)
- Lighting: stand facing a window in daylight. Avoid overhead bathroom lighting if you can.
- No heavy brow makeup: I need to see your real shape and density. Tinted gel is fine if you tell me you’re wearing it.
- Angles: one straight-on, one from each side (profile), and one close-up of each brow.
- Distance: fill the frame with your eyes and brows, but keep it in focus.
- Inspo is welcome: send 1 to 3 reference photos of brows you like so I can understand your style goals.
If you’re in a busy September schedule, juggling classes, or working late shifts, getting these photos ready ahead of time keeps the call efficient.
Why people stick with me for brows in Allston (and how to book the right next step)
I’ve been doing brows in Allston for 11 years, and a pattern shows up again and again: people don’t just want “eyebrows.” They want consistency, they want someone who listens, and they want to walk out feeling like themselves, just more polished.
“I have had two wonderful experiences... I am very fair and had almost no visible eyebrows when I went for my first appointment. I now have very natural looking brows... they make me happy!”
